(Reuters) – California firefighters took advantage of a wind break to lift their aircraft and pour retardant onto a wildfire moving at a speed of about a mile from the ranch of Ronald Reagan, officials stated.

An estimated 1,500 firefighters are responsible for steering the Alisal fire from Reagan ranch. The Reagan ranch is where President George W. Bush hosted former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and Queen Elizabeth.

Madsen explained that “there are forecasts for high winds tonight” and that she is trying to accomplish as many things as possible before then.

They are working hard to ensure that the fire does not get out of control in a closed building Exxon Mobil He also mentioned that the facility is located in Las Flores Canyon. In an email statement, the company stated that they were closely monitoring the situation and had not received any injuries or damage to facilities. The facilities have been closed since 2015.

Madsen reported that the fire, which erupted on Monday 20 miles (32 km northwest) of Santa Barbara in a remote corner of Southern California, was only 5% contained.

Madsen stated that firefighters had intended to use the low winds to raise the containment line. However, they were still not able to make up any ground by the evening.

Strong winds caused the Alisal Fire to quickly grow on Tuesday. This resulted in the closure of one section of an important highway and several commuter train lines. California Governor Gavin Newsom stated Wednesday that the state has secured federal funds for 75% reimbursement of state and local costs related to the fight against the fire.

California’s burnt acres are expected to increase this year. California experienced the worst fire season in history, with 4.2million acres being destroyed. It was an area as large as Hawaii.
