SHANGHAI, (Reuters) – China is hopeful that U.S. companies will increase their cooperation in areas such as new energy vehicles and biopharma, according to the minister of industry.

According to a WeChat statement, Xiao Yaqing (China’s Minister for Industry and Information Technology) made these comments during a videoconference meeting with the Chairman of the U.S. China Business Council.

Xiao said also that U.S.-Chinese firms are interdependent in the global industry chain, and that China welcomes U.S. businesses to increase their investments in China.
