Embraer and Fokker join up for defense, development and support opportunities By Reuters

BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazilian planemaker Embraer SA Dutch aerospace companies and the (NYSE: ) company signed an agreement Monday in order to examine opportunities in defence and commercial aviation including possible new configurations for C-390, its military transport plane.

Embraer stated in a statement that the partnership with Fokker Techniek (Fokker Services) will open up opportunities for engineering support and logistics, as well as the development of hydrogen-powered airplanes.

Embraer ranks third among the largest commercial plane manufacturers in the world.

“There is huge potential for both companies in the development of opportunities together,” said Jackson Schneider, chief executive officer of Embraer Defense & Security.

He said, “This is an important step in Embraer’s strategy to create meaningful and strategic partnership around the world,” at Woensdrecht’s signing ceremony.
