WASHINGTON (Reuters] -An ex-President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit Monday against the House of Representatives investigation into the Jan. 6, attack on U.S. Capitol. It claimed it had made an “illegal and unfounded” request for records from his White House.

Trump claimed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia lawsuit that the materials requested by the select committee were protected by executive privilege. This legal doctrine protects the confidentiality of certain White House records.

Injunction sought to block the panel from requesting materials.
