BENGALURU (Reuters), – On Monday, the World Health Organization stated that it expected Bharat Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine information to be available. It is a blow to Indian pharmaceutical company’s efforts to obtain an emergency-use list for the shot.

The two-dose Covaxin vaccine is not likely to be approved by WHO without their approval. Bharat Biotech, which has provided data continuously since July on a rolling basis to WHO for an emergency-use registration, is actively pursuing this listing.

“We know that people want (Bharat Biotech’s) Covaxin included in #COVID19’s Emergency Use List, but we can’t cut corners,” WHO stated on Twitter.

Bharat Biotech didn’t immediately reply to a Reuters inquiry for comment.

Covaxin, one of three vaccines approved for use in India’s adult vaccination drive is used. A total of 30% of India’s 944 million eligible adult population have been fully immunized, with more than 112,000,000 Covaxin doses administered.

“Bharat Biotech… has been sending data to WHO on an ongoing basis, and WHO experts have examined these data. WHO has one more piece from the company today, the global healthcare agency stated on Twitter.

Soumya Swaminathan (whole body’s chief scientist) stated that on Sunday, the Technical Advisory Group of WHO met on October 26 to review the Covaxin listing.
