Amazon launches in-store pickup option for items from local businesses

AmazonNew shipping options are available for those who prefer not to wait for the package to arrive via mail.

On Thursday, Amazon launched Local Selling. This service allows small and medium-sized sellers of Amazon products to deliver their goods in-store to customers who are located near them.

Amazon could use these features to keep customers on Amazon’s site and not go elsewhere like its online shops or marketplaces.

Shoppers will now be able select in-store pickup for eligible items. They can then collect their packages the next day. Amazon claims that there will be no additional charge for in-store pickup.

Local delivery will be handled by sellers who use their trucks or vans to deliver the items to customers’ homes. You can bundle additional services with delivery.

Sellers can decide on the shipping speed and cost. Amazon however stated that many merchants were able to provide local delivery within one to two days at no additional cost.

Bear Hendley from Arizona’s Walts TV said that “generally speaking, we can meet the existing Prime standard in one to two days.” He also served as the installation and retail sales manager for the program. We are looking at offering same-day service. This capability is already available to us.”

Amazon’s fast local delivery service allows it to leverage its large network of sellers to expedite the shipping of packages to their customers. This is a strategy similar to that used by Amazon. WalmartAnd TargetThey have now tapped into brick-and mortar stores to provide same-day shipping for online orders.

Pat Bigatel (director of Local Selling) stated that sellers are using their local infrastructure to deliver their products. Because it’s local, the delivery promises are faster than anything that would normally be shipped nationwide.
