CDC panel to vote on Moderna and J&J Covid booster shots

To discuss booster shots, a key advisory panel of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will meet Thursday. Moderna Johnson & JohnsonThe vaccine and the possibility that people could mix and match shots from different companies.

It comes just a day after the Food and Drug Administration. authorized booster shotsDistribution of additional doses is another crucial step. Mix-and-match vaccination doses were also approved by the FDA.

The authorization would open up booster doses to the more than 15 million people who have been inoculated with J&J’s shots and the more than 69 million people who have been fully immunized with Moderna’s vaccine.

Additional vaccines for eligible persons could be available immediately if Dr. Rochelle Walensky (CDC Director) signs off on Thursday if the committee’s recommendation is made.
