(Reuters). A Minnesota judge has sentenced Mohamed Noor, a former Minneapolis officer of police, to 57 months imprisonment. This is the maximum possible punishment for killing an Australian woman who called police in 2017 to report a possible sex attack.

Following a Minnesota Supreme Court order last month that nullified Noor’s conviction for third-degree killing and ordered Noor to be resentenced under a lesser charge, Noor will be sentenced on second-degree misdemeanor in the death Justine Ruszczyk. Justine, 40, called police the night of the 15th of July 2017 after hearing a woman screaming close by her home.

Noor, 35 years old, was found not guilty of second degree murder by a jury. However, Noor was convicted of third-degree depraved-mind killing and second-degree manslaughter and sentenced to twelve-1/2 years prison.
