WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – A bipartisan group comprising 38 U.S. House legislators urged Congress leaders to move quickly to pass legislation providing $52 Billion for U.S.-based semiconductor production. This includes $2 Billion in support of chips used in the auto industry.

In June, the U.S. Senate approved a broad package of legislation to help the country compete with Chinese technology. The measure included $52 billion in chips and was passed 68 to 32. However, the House has thrown out the bill.

The House lawmakers in a letter warned of the “dire consequences the automotive industry as a whole—and the nation—faces if we fail to advance legislation soon.”
