Union Pacific Earnings, Revenue Beat in Q3 -Breaking

Investing.com Union Pacific (NYSE: ) announced Thursday that the third quarter beat analyst forecasts with revenue surpassing expectations.

Union Pacific posted earnings per share in the range of $2.57 to $5.57B on revenues of $5.57B. Investing.com analysts polled predicted EPS at $2.49 for revenue of $5.43B.

Union Pacific shares rose 9% over the first of the year but are down by 1.41% from May 10’s 52-week peak of $231.26. They are under-performing the S&P 500 which is up 20.77% from the start of the year.

Union Pacific shares fell 0.66% during pre-market trading following the report.

Union Pacific’s latest report is following an earnings beat of Canadian National Railway (on Tuesday), who reported EPS $1.52 on revenue revenue of 3.59B. This compares to the forecasts of EPS $1.41 on revenue revenue of 3.51B.

CSX exceeded expectations with Wednesday’s third quarter EPS at $0.43 on revenue $3.29B. That compares to the $0.378 forecast on revenue $3.07B for EPS at $0.378.
