Lyft records more than 4,000 sexual assault cases in safety report

LyftReceived reports that there were more than 4,000 cases of sexual assault on the ride-hailing platform’s ride-hailing platform, between 2017 and 2019, said it. It also provided details in a safety report which it had promised to publish two years back.

Lyft stated that over 99% of their journeys were completed without safety incidents.

According to the company, safety measures have been implemented and drivers are subjected to rigorous background checks.

Lyft has a significantly lower number of trips than Uber but it did not reveal the complete numbers in its safety report on Thursday. However, the Uber incident rate at 0.0002% was almost the same as Lyft’s.

Lyft didn’t disclose the number of incidents that led to drivers being injured, as Uber does. Uber found that about half of sexual assault cases were filed by riders according to their report.
