Xpeng launches flying car that can also operate on roads

HT Aero, a Chinese affiliate of electric carmaker Xpeng Inc. launched a vehicle capable of driving on the roads and flying through the air. The launch of HT Aero’s 6th–generation model happened at the Xpeng Tech Day on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

GUANGZHOU, China — HT Aero, an affiliate of Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng Inc.On Sunday,, unveiled a brand new flying car that can drive on the roads.

According to the company, it expects to roll out its product in 2024.

According to HT Aero, the vehicle’s lightweight design will allow it to fold away. The car will be able to fly and drive on the roads once its rotors expand.

The company stated that the vehicle would have parachutes and other safety features.

Xpeng is backing HT Aero along with its founder, He Xiaopeng. The firm raised $500million last week from numerous outside investors, including well-known venture capital companies.

Flying cars — also called electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles — have garnered a lot of interest from automakers and start-ups

There are many issues that these vehicles face, such as safety and regulations.

HT Aero’s latest land-and-air vehicle, the HT Aero Land and Air Vehicle was unveiled at Xpeng Tech Day. Xpeng also showcased the latest version XPILOT 4.0 of their advanced driver assistance system.
