Airbus rebuffs lessor complaints about plans to lift jet output -Breaking

PARIS (Reuters). AIRBUS has resisted requests from aircraft leasing companies to limit its plans to nearly double the production of its A320 family. According to industry sources, Airbus believes its ambitions can be justified by post-COVID demand.

Airbus has been warned by major lessors that an abrupt hike in prices could disrupt the market during a fragile recovery, according to sources.

A person with knowledge of the situation said that Airbus had responded to leasing companies saying “demand is here”.

Airbus spokesperson stated that the company is continuing to ramp up production of commercial aircraft in accordance with plans communicated in May 2020.
