Blue Origin, Boeing chart course for ‘business park’ in space -Breaking

(Reuters). Blue Origin (owned by Jeff Bezos) on Monday revealed plans for a commercial satellite station, “Orbital reef” (NYSE:), which will be launched in the second half this decade.

Redwire Space, Genesis Engineering Solutions, Arizona State University and Redwire Space will partner with Sierra Space to create the venture.

Orbital Reef will function as a “mixed-use business park” and plans to offer the infrastructure required to expand economic activity and create new markets in space.

The companies stated that “Seasoned Space Agencies, High-Tech Consortia and sovereign countries without space programs as well media and travel companies, sponsored inventors and funded entrepreneurs, as well future-minded investors, all have a spot on Orbital Reef.”

Blue Origin’s successful first spacetourism flight was launched in July. Bezos joined three other passengers. Blue Origin’s 90-year old actor William Shatner, Captain James Kirk from “Star Trek”, became the oldest spaceflight passenger aboard its rocketship earlier this month.
