Democrats likely to ditch U.S. methane fee amid opposition -sources -Breaking

(Reuters] – The Democratic proposal for a methane tax on U.S. petroleum and gas producers has been rejected by its members, two sources who are familiar with negotiations.

U.S. opposition to the proposal of taxing oil and gas producers on methane emissions exceeding a threshold is strong. Sources said that Senator Joe Manchin (West Virginia representative) and Democrats from Texas’ oil-heavy Texas were opposed to the proposal.
