WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – A former high-ranking Saudi intelligence officer accused Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of attacking him and made a rare public plea to Biden to release his Saudi Arabian children.

Saad Al-Jabri served as an aide for Prince Mohammed bin Nayef (or MbS) who was ousted from the throne by a palace coup in 2017. MbS, Saudi Arabia’s largest oil exporter and key U.S. ally, is de facto now the ruler of Saudi Arabia.

Jabri, who lives in Canada at the moment, filed a lawsuit of 107 pages in the U.S. alleging that the crown prince “dispatched an “hit squad” in order to kill him. However, Canadian authorities dismantled the plot.

Last year, a Saudi court jailed two of Saad al-Jabri’s adult children for money laundering and conspiracy to escape the kingdom unlawfully, charges they deny.

Jabri, his first interview after leaving the Kingdom, stated that MbS had “no empathy” and added that the leader of 36 years old is a danger to Saudi Arabia, America, and all of humanity.

“I need to be heard. I appeal to America’s people and the American administration for help to free these children. Jabri spoke visibly tearful on CBS Television’s 60 Minutes.

Washington, DC: The Saudi Embassy in Washington didn’t immediately reply to my request for comment.

The crown prince’s lawyers have rejected Jabri’s allegations and said MbS has legal immunity in the United States as a foreign head of state.

Last year, MbS’s lawyer Michael Kellogg (NYSE:) dismissed the claims, describing them as “steeped in drama.”

Jabri’s allegations come more than three years after Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi-born U.S. resident who wrote opinion columns for the Washington Post critical of MbS, was killed and dismembered by a team of operatives linked to the prince in the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul.

Although the Saudi crown prince has repeatedly denied involvement, a U.S intelligence report in February concluded that he approved an operation to kill or capture Khashoggi. However, the Biden administration didn’t penalize MbS.

U.S. President Joe Biden is more firm with Riyadh about its human rights record as well as the Yemen war, than Donald Trump. Trump was a strong friend of MbS.

Jabri spent many years as bin Nayef’s closest aide at the Ministry of Interior, including helping to overhaul the kingdom’s intelligence and counterterrorism operations.

A group of Saudi-owned companies sued Canada in January alleging that Jabri stole billions of dollars of government funds while working for the Ministry of Interior.

Jabri claimed that Jabri did not steal any money, but he raised alarm about his own safety. “I am sure I will be killed because this guy won’t rest until he witnesses me dead,” Jabri stated, referring to MbS.
