SHENZHEN, China (Reuters). Meng Wanzhou is Huawei Technologies’ CFO. She returned Monday to work in the Shenzhen headquarters of the technology giant after nearly three years spent fighting extradition to America in Canada.

Meng, Ren Zhengfei’s daughter, underwent three weeks of quarantine after she returned to Shenzhen, where she was greeted by a large number of patriotic cheerleaders.

She said, “Over the past three years, even though we have struggled,” during a speech that she delivered at an internal company event. The speech was also distributed online.

Washington and Beijing were at war over extradition, which was a major source of conflict. Chinese officials suggested that it should be dropped in order to resolve a diplomatic impasse.

Meng was taken into custody in Vancouver in December 2018, following a New York court’s arrest warrant. The warrant stated that Meng tried to hide the attempts of Huawei-linked firms to sell Iran equipment in violation of U.S. sanctions.

She was allowed to go home after reaching an agreement https://www.reuters.com/technology/huawei-cfo-meng-appear-court-expected-reach-agreement-with-us-source-2021-09-24 with U.S. prosecutors last month to end a bank fraud case against her.
