HONG KONG (Reuters] – Coupon payments have been made to some China Evergrande Group bondholders for a dollar tranche due Sept. 23, according to two sources with knowledge.

Evergrande is the largest property company in the world, with over $300 billion of liabilities. A person familiar with the matter said that Evergrande had transferred $83.5 million on Thursday to a Citibank trustee account.

The people who spoke out Monday said that the fund had been transferred at least to some offshore bondholders. They declined to identify themselves as they weren’t authorized to talk to the media.

Evergrande spokesmen said that they did not comment.
