California officials announced Wednesday that 4,000 locations will be available to give 1.2 Million Covid shots to children aged 5-11 years. This is after the vaccines are approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Just a few days after the advisory committee for Food and Drug Administration, this announcement was made recommended vaccinesFrom PfizerAnd BioNTechThis age group. According to Dr. Erica Pan at the Covid briefing in Washington, more than 1.2million doses of vaccine will be ready for distribution in the week following shots are approved.

Pan explained that “we have approximately 4,000 sites available for administration and over 1000 providers throughout the state who are enrolled to vaccinate.” Pan said that more than 860,000 vaccine doses have been already ordered.

California has more than 3.5million children between 5 and 11 years of age, or roughly 9 percent of California’s entire population. Pan claimed. The vaccine rollout could be initiated as soon the CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky approves the shots. She’s expected do so after the Tuesday meeting of the advisory board.

California’s Department of Public Health has already begun working with schools in order to give vaccines. Dr. Mark Ghaly (secretary of the state’s Health and Human Services Agency) spoke at the briefing. Ghaly explained that California schools are working with other health-care providers and pharmacies to administer shots. Ghaly also stated that there will likely be more clinics in education centers in November.

Ghaly explained that CDPH had planned numerous vaccine sites at schools “by the middle next month,” in collaboration with many local health jurisdictions.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a mandatory vaccine on Oct. 1All public grade school students who wish to return to classes in person after the FDA has given their approval. This was the nation’s first such requirement. Pfizer is currently dispensing its vaccine in accordance with emergency approval. Newsom indicated that students older than 12 could be eligible for the vaccine if the final regulatory approval is granted before December 31st.

Newsom’s plan is divided into two parts. It will begin with children 12-17 years old once vaccines have been cleared by the FDA. The FDA will approve the expansion of this order to include children aged 5 to 11. With approval for younger age groups expected as soon as this week, the FDA will likely approve the order. Full approval is expected to take several more months. White House officials are aware said the country has a stockpileVaccines in sufficient quantities to protect all 28 millions children aged 5 to 11.

Ghaly stated that if the FDA doesn’t approve all vaccines for people over the age of 12 before the year’s end, the mandate’s start date will be moved from January to July. In August, the FDA approved Pfizer’s vaccine for all people 16 years and over. It also cleared Pfizer’s emergency vaccine for adolescents aged 12-15 in May. Moderna and J&J’s vaccines are currently approved for use in adults only.
