Exchange operator CME’s quarterly profit jumps 125% -Breaking

(Reuters] – CME Group Inc, a futures exchange operator (NASDAQ:), announced on Wednesday it had doubled its profit for the third quarter due to strong trading in a variety of asset classes.

From $411.7 million (or $1.15 per share) a year prior, the net profit attributable by the company rose from $926.5million to $2.58/share in the September 30 quarter to $926.5million, or $2.58/share,

Trades in top exchange products like energy and futures were up by double digits from one year prior, as the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted demand.

After excluding one-time costs the company was able to earn $1.60 per shared. According to Refinitiv’s IBES data, analysts had predicted $1.56 per shares. However, it was unclear if the estimates were comparable.

The total quarterly revenue was $1.11 trillion, nearly 33% more than a year ago.
