McLaren Automotive’s boss Mike Flewitt to step down -Breaking

(Reuters) – McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt has resigned after serving more than eight-years as the company’s chief executive. The announcement was made Wednesday by the British Formula One team and sportscar maker McLaren Automotive.

McLaren Group owns both the supercar and racing business. Michael Macht is the non-executive Director. While Flewitt is being replaced, Macht will be responsible for the technical and operations functions.

Flewitt stated that he felt incredibly proud of McLaren Automotive’s first decade, which was a highly successful one. He also said that he feels privileged to be a part of the McLaren story.

Flewitt led McLaren’s expansion into Asia and introduction of new hybrid cars. He also facilitated potential takeovers, market floatation, and other activities.

His contribution to expanding carmarker’s offerings includes the McLaren GT, McLaren GT hybrid and McLaren Ultimate hypercars.

McLaren Automotive was established in 2010 by Bruce McLaren to compete with Ferrari (NYSE:), and Aston Martin, while keeping them away from Formula 1 circuits. Bruce McLaren, a pioneer in the field of motorsports, founded McLaren Automotive. He is also known for his victories with Lewis Hamilton.
