U.S., Turkish presidential advisers discuss defense relationship, disagreements -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Top advisors to U.S. president Joe Biden and Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan discussed a variety of topics on Wednesday, just days after Turkey’s leader threatened expulsion.

Erdogan on Saturday ordered the “persona nugra” designation of 10 envoys for their efforts to obtain the release from a prisoned philanthropist. The threat was withdrawn by Erdogan on Monday. He stated that 10 envoys were to be declared “persona non grata” for seeking the release of philanthropist in jail.

The White House stated that Jake Sullivan, U.S. national defense adviser, and Ibrahim Kalin, Erdogan adviser, discussed topics including Afghanistan, South Caucasus, and the Eastern Mediterranean as well as their relationship in defense, via a statement.

The statement made an allegation to the dispute, saying that “they also agreed on how important it is to continue dialogue to manage differences and keep constructive bilateral ties.”
