LONDON, (Reuters) – Rishi Sunak, British Finance Minister said he must raise taxes to cover his massive spending response to coronavirus crises. But he is keen to lower taxes.

“My goal for the remainder of the parliament is that taxes fall by the end, and not rise.” During an online conversation organized by the Conservative Party, Sunak stated that this is what he wanted to deliver.

Sunak delivered an earlier budget statement to parliament on Wednesday. According to British budget forecasters, the state’s total tax intake is expected to surpass that of the 1950s due to the tax increases announced in March/September.
