LONDON (Reuters] -A government spokesperson said Thursday that Britain has fully complied with EU rules regarding its post-Brexit trade agreements. He also wants to talk with French and EU officials on the reason a UK trawler was taken into French custody.
Britain earlier condemned France’s seizure in French waters of a British fisherman boat as “disproportionate”, in dispute over post Brexit fishing rights. It is a matter that could spiral out of control.
Boris Johnson spokesmen said London’s ambassador to France, Boris Johnson, was talking with Paris’s Europe minister about the matter, and that Britain’s Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Minister was working with EU commissioners.
The spokesman stated that they wanted to discuss the matter with both the French government as well as the EU. A reporter asked the spokesperson if plans were made to transport the navy.
He added that “we will continue to seek clarification and have these discussions before we decide on the best response.”
