Abbvie Jumps After Raising Dividend, Annual Profit Forecast -Breaking

© Reuters. Investing.com – AbbVie stock (NYSE:) climbed more than 4% Friday after the drugmaker raised its dividend, and also lifted its outlook for annual profit for the third time after it narrowly beat sales and profit forecasts in the third quarter.
Starting with February’s payout, the company raised its 2022 dividend 8.5%.
AbbVie expects 2021 adjusted profits per share at $12.65, as opposed to $12.57 in its previous expectation.
Skyrizi has received expanded approvals and Rinvoq was launched in 2019. The company is now preparing for Humira competition by biosimilar, lower-cost versions in 2023.
Abbvie wants Skyrizi to be as successful and Rinvoq the same success story of Humira in the coming years.
Skyrizi is an injection that can be used to treat plaque pisoriasis. It’s also approved for use by Crohn’s Disease patients.
Rinvoq is prescribed to sufferers of severe atopic skin diseases. Rinvoq will also be administered to active ulcerative colitis patients.
Humira, AbbVie’s injectable biologic for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, is the world’s largest selling medicine with sales of $19.83 billion in 2020 alone. The drug contributed to over 43% of the company’s revenue in 2020. The drug was sold in America for $16.11 million in 2020.
Two months ago, Abbvie was forced by the Food and Drug Administration to issue Rinvoq warnings even more severe.
Skyrizi sales increased by 83% to $796 Million in September quarter. Rinvoq sales more than doubled, to $453 millions.
AbbVie’s total sales increased by more than 11% to $14.34 trillion. To $3.33, the adjusted profit per share climbed 18%.
