Armorer on ‘Rust’ film set says producers overruled her safety requests -Breaking

LOS ANGELES, (Reuters) – The armorer responsible for overseeing guns in the filming of Western movie Rust said that producers made it unsafe and refused her request for additional training. This was before Alec Baldwin shot and killed a cinematographer.
Hannah Gutierrez, 24, was represented by attorneys. They made the initial statement for her late Thursday night, one week after Baldwin shot Halyna Hutchins to death at the Rust set in Santa Fe.
According to statements from Robert Gorence and Jason Bowles, Gutierrez was an armorer and assistant propmaster. Safety was his number one priority.
Both holding these roles “made it extremely hard to focus on her job at an armorer,” Gutierrez stated. Gutierrez worked for proper training, weapons maintenance, and time for preparation for shots with gunfire.
Gutierrez, according to the attorneys, was ultimately overruled “ultimately by production and Her Department”, they said.
They added that “The entire production was unsafe because of a variety factors including a lack safety meetings.” Hannah wasn’t at fault.
Santa Fe authorities are currently investigating and haven’t ruled out the possibility of criminal charges. On Friday, a spokeswoman representing the Rust producers did not have any immediate comments.
Baldwin stated that he is devastated and will cooperate with the investigators.
