China’s Xi to attend G20 leader’s summit via video link -Breaking

BEIJING (Reuters – China’s President Xi Jinping will participate in the Group of 20 Leaders’ Summit in Rome, Oct. 30-31. This is according to a Chinese foreign ministry notice on Friday.

According to the notice, he will give a speech on the summit.

Xi has not been to China since 2020 when it became obvious that the COVID-19 epidemic was a serious threat.

A few other G20 leaders are likely to be absent this month’s summit, which hosts Italy. Officials and diplomats previously confirmed that.

The U.S. president Joe Biden said he will be there.

G20 members, who account for 80% the global carbon emission, will be a key steppingstone before next week’s United Nations COP26 climate conference in Scotland.
