Microsoft — which on Friday passed Apple to become the world’s most valuable publicly traded company — was not formally part of the old FAANG acronym, although many on Wall Street would often mention it in the same breath as its fellow technology giants.

FAANG stands for Facebook, Amazon and Apple. NetflixGoogle’s Alphabet is its parent. Cramer invented the acronym almost a decade ago. It was first known as FANG, before Apple. added in 2017

The term has become an accepted way of referring to the cohort.

Netflix isn’t included in this new acronym.

Facebook has announced that Meta is its new name. This company claims it captures the company’s ambitions far beyond social media. The company, which includes the Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms, is investing heavily in what’s known as the metaverse, a digital world in which people use various devices to engage with each other in a 3D environment. Oculus, a virtual reality headset manufacturer Oculus is also owned by Meta.

On Dec. 1, Meta will switch from FB stock ticker to MVRS.
