Dollar Up, but Near One-Month Low After ECB Policy Decision Strengthens Euro -Breaking

Investing.com – The dollar was up on Friday morning in Asia but remained near its weakest level in a month. The gains in the U.S currency were limited by a stronger euro as investors placed bets on higher European interest rates.
That tracks the greenback relative to a basket other currencies climbed 0.07% up to 93.388 at 12:16 AM ET (4.16 AM GMT)
It rose 0.07%, to 113.64. Japanese data earlier in the day revealed that the rose 0.1% year on year, and contracted 0.2% month over month in October. Contract 5.4% month-on-30, the was 1.16 and 2.8% respectively in September.
This pair grew 0.11% to 0.7552. Australian saw a 1.3% increase in month-on month growth, while the US saw a 0.6% rise month-on month. In the third quarter 2021, the producer price index increased 1.1% and 2.9% respectively.

The euro was flat at $1.16855, after having been $1.1692 the day before. On Thursday, the Bank of England handed down its policy decision. Some interpret President Christine Lagarde’s remarks as not enough to confirm the central bank’s dovish position.
TD Securities strategists stated in a note that Lagarde’s pushback “was not forceful enough” opening up the possibility for the euro, which could see it test $1.1680 within the next week. The note said that “extrapolating the euro strength above that seems like an enormous ask, a week before the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting where assert taping will be announced.”
As central banks such as the and the handed down their policy decisions earlier this week, foreign exchange markets witnessed big movements. The Reserve Bank of Australia continued its stance as before, but on Thursday it declined to purchase a government bond that was at the core of its stimulus programme.
Following week, both the Fed and BOE will deliver their policy decisions. Expect the Fed to start asset tapering beginning in November. However, BOE may announce an interest rate increase.
