New York City firefighters union asks court to halt city’s vaccine mandate -Breaking

[ad_1]

(Reuters] – A union representing New York City firefighters requested a state court to halt a mayor’s order for city employees to receive the COVID-19 shot or to be put on unpaid leave.

Leaders of Uniformed Firefighters Association have told firefighters who aren’t vaccinated to report to duty, in defiance to de Blasio’s orders. This essentially makes it possible for the city to fire them.

This union is for firefighters, fire marshals, and all other members of fire departments.

De Blasio last week gave approximately 50,000 New York City employees a Friday deadline to show proof that they had been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Persons who do not provide evidence could lose their jobs.
