Pharmacy chain operator Giant Eagle settles Ohio opioid lawsuits mid-trial -Breaking

(Reuters) – Giant Eagle Inc, a regional pharmacy chain operator in Ohio, announced Friday that it has agreed to settle lawsuits alleging it fuelled the opioid epidemic. The settlement included two Ohio counties where it was found guilty and three of its larger competitors.

This settlement was reached during week four of a trial at federal court in Cleveland. It involved lawsuits brought by Ohio counties Lake and Trumbull against Giant Eagle and Walgreens Boots Alliance (NASDAQ:) Inc and CVS Health Corp. (NYSE:), as well as Walmart (NYSE;) Inc.
