BADUNG (Reuters) – A U.S. woman was sentenced to a 10-year term for killing her mother, and she and her boyfriend were jailed together in 2015. She then stuffed the body in a suitcase that she found on Bali.

Heather Mack, a victim of hordes of reporters, left Bali’s Kerobokan prison on Friday morning. Mack did not respond to Reuters. Yulius Benyamin Seran, Mack’s lawyer was absent and declined to respond when Reuters reached her.

Tommy Schaefer was arrested and sentenced in 2014 to 18 years imprisonment for premeditated killing, Mack to a 10 year sentence for accessory to murder.

Lili, Kerobokan’s chief prisoner for female inmates Lili stated that Mack received a 34 month remission. Mack, she said, was religious and engaged in fashion and dancing activities while in prison.

Yulius in August told AFP by lawyer that Mack would be sent back to America upon release.

Mack and Schaefer had their case investigated for 4 months by Indonesian authorities.

Schaefer (21 years of age) stated in 2015 that he had shot and killed Sheila von Wiese/Mack as self-defence at the St. Regis Hotel in Bali. This was after she’d reacted to their relationship.

Mack was only 19 years old at the 2015 sentencing.

Von Wiese Mack was found dead at her hotel room with severe bruises and broken fingers. CCTV footage of Heather Mack and Schaefer talking to a taxi driver following the dropping of the bloodied suitcase was submitted as evidence to court.

Mack and Mack’s mother were in a bad relationship. Von Wiese-Mack reported frequently that Mack punched or bit her mother, according to Chicago media.
