Australia reopens its borders to New Zealand and Singapore

Australia received its first foreign visitor Monday, after having closed its borders to international travel for 600 days because of the pandemic. The country is now taking steps to lift the restrictions.
New Zealanders who have been fully vaccinated and passed pre-departure Covid testing can enter Australia. You may be allowed to bypass quarantine in some jurisdictions like New South WalesThese conditions can vary in different states or territories.
Singaporeans will soon be the next group of tourists who are able to visit Australia.
Travelers from the city-state who are inoculated against Covid-19 can enter New South Wales and Victoria — Australia’s two most populous states — from Nov. 21 without quarantine. Additionally, they will need to be negative on pre-departure Covid test.
It was reportedly finalizedOn Sunday, Scott Morrison, the Australian Prime Minister, met Lee Hsien Loong from Singapore at G-20 Summit in Italy.
“Australians are open. Morrison stated Sunday that Australians have begun to travel again, speaking at a Rome press conference. “Australia is opening up towards Singapore and New Zealand.”
Sydney, which was under lockdown for over 100 days, opened its doors last month.

Victoria and New South Wales now have vaccinated at least 80% of the eligible population.
Australia had the most stringent coronavirus policy in the world. Only permanent residents and citizens were permitted to travel into Australia. They also had to undergo two weeks of compulsory quarantine.
Many thousands of Australians have been left behind abroad due to a lack of flights and restrictions on the number allowed into major cities.
