BRASILIA. (Reuters) – Brazilian truckers protesting rising fuel prices have not completely blocked federal roads and any strategic logistic hubs. This was according to the Infrastructure Ministry, which cited updated information from the Federal Highway Police.
According to the latest ministry statement on ongoing protests there is only one spot where truckers can demonstrate – it’s the BR-116 highway, in Barra Mansa in the state Rio de Janeiro.
According to the statement, truckers can still travel as normal, even though they are not part of the protests.
A protest was also held by truckers in Goiania’s center-western town of Goiania, earlier that day. They dispersed shortly afterwards.
The statement stated that demonstrations did not affect Brazilian ports or fuel distribution centers.
