REUTERS/Peter NichollsDUBLIN (Reuters), Ryanair said Monday that Boeing (NYSE ) is “delusional” because it imposed a double-digit price rise for an order of the 737 MAX 10 in talks held earlier this year.
In September, Europe’s biggest low-cost airline abruptly stopped talks with American planemaker Boeing over an order for 737 MAX 10 aircraft. The disagreements over the price were a result of differences in pricing.
Michael O’Leary, Group Chief Executive of Group said that Boeing’s financial strategy is “delusional” in a video presentation after the airline’s most recent financial results.
Boeing sought to increase the price of its stock by a substantial two-digit percentage. It is a confusing strategy. “We think Boeing’s approach is delusionary.” He said. Ryanair was the only important customer Boeing has in Europe.
O’Leary stated that although Rajanir was close to a follow-on order, Boeing pulled out of the negotiations because it wanted a price hike at a time when they should have been falling. This would allow Boeing to recover its production.
Boeing didn’t immediately reply to an email request for comment.
