SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – An Apple employee who was fired https://www.reuters.com/technology/apple-worker-says-she-was-fired-after-leading-movement-against-harassment-2021-10-15 last month after leading fellow workers in publicly sharing instances of what they called harassment and discrimination has filed a charge with the U.S. National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

Janneke Parrish was a former Apple program manager who was seen in documents that were viewed Reuters. They claimed she was fired by Apple to thwart her attempts to organize other workers.

“Apple Inc (NASDAQ:). Parrish terminated Parrish’s job based on false and pretextual grounds and, in fact, she terminated her employment (in) an attempt to nip in the bud the successful organizing campaign Parrish established to address employees’ workplace issues,” Parrish explained in a cover letter to the labor board.

Parrish claimed that last month she received a message from the iPhone manufacturer stating she was terminated because she deleted material from company equipment. This came as she was under investigation for the leakage of information at a town hall. Parrish told Reuters that she denied leaking.

Apple replied to questions about employee concerns in response. Apple has stated that it is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and positive workplace and takes employees’ concerns seriously.

Apple is not the only company to have experienced employee protests in recent years. Two Apple employees reported to Reuters in September that they filed similar charges. Apple said it is committed “deeply” to creating and maintaining a “positive and inclusive workplace”, and that it considers all concerns against it seriously with the NLRB. Apple employees were accused of alleging retaliation, halting pay discussions among employees and other charges.

If the NLRB finds merit in any of these charges, it investigates them all and pursues employers.
