Ford MotorUnveiled Tuesday, a truck custom made by the company that blends its history with future plans for electrification. This includes its much-anticipated “supertruck” F-150 Lightning pickup in 2022.

Ford’s “all-electric Ford F-100 Eluminator truck concept” features retro-styling from a 1978 F-100 pickup, complete with electric motors. 2021 Mustang Mach-EGT Performance Edition. The interior screens and controls are similar to the Mach-E electric crossover.

Ford designed the car to show off its “e-crate” motor, which is now available online and in dealerships. The motors, also known as “crate engines” or engine or motors, are manufactured by Ford but available for general sale for the purpose of building, fixing, or customizing automobiles.

Eric Cin, Ford Global Director of Accessories and Licensing said in a statement that “Our F-100Eluminator Concept is a preview how we’re supporting our customers as they move all-electric and embrace zero-tailpipe emission performance even for their heritage vehicles.”

In preparation for its launch, the carmaker also uses custom pickups as a marketing tool. its electric F-150 Lightning pickupThe first half next year. Many view the pickup as a barometer for whether pickup truck customers — which dominate annual U.S. sales charts — are ready to switch to electric vehicles.

The concept pickup can produce 480 horsepower and 634 foot-pounds of torque, Ford said. Ford Performance created the concept pickup and worked with partners such as Roadster Shop, MLe Racecars, and Roadster Shop on its design.

Each of Ford’s e-crate motors produces 281 horsepower and 317 foot-pounds of torque and is street-legal in all 50 states, according to the company. Ford stated that the motor would retail at $3,900.

Tuesday’s unveiling of the Ford F-100 Eluminator took place in Las Vegas at SEMA Show. This annual event is for automotive specialty and aftermarket sectors.

Automotive industry is very dependent on the aftermarket. Show attendees are able to see unique cars from automakers and learn about new products like Ford’s electric-crate engine.

Specialty Equipment Market Association estimates that the aftermarket parts market is worth $44.6 million annually. They also host an annual event.
