U.S. FAA warns of potential interference from new 5G technology -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The Federal Aviation Administration issued Tuesday a special bulletin to alert manufacturers and operators as well as pilots about possible interference from 5G telecommunications technologies.

The FAA met with Federal Communications Commissions to discuss its air safety concerns regarding the use of new spectrum in 5G wireless networks beginning Dec. 5.

According to the FAA, Tuesday’s statement stated that operators must be aware of possible interference by 5G transmitters or other technology.

Pilots should remind their passengers to turn off any portable electronic device equipped with 5G or switch it to airplane mode while flying.
