Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Rochelle Walsky advised Wednesday that young children who have Covid antibodies from a previous infection still need to be fully vaccinated.

Walensky stated that Covid is an infectious disease. People who have been previously infected with it are protected from getting again. However, scientists don’t yet know the duration or strength of this immunity.

A Friday CDC study that looked at over 7000 people with Covid-like illness found Moderna’s and Pfizer vaccines. BetterA prior coronavirus infection does not provide protection. The study found that people unvaccinated who were cured of Covid were approximately five times as likely to be positive than those who had been administered both mRNA vaccines, and also had no prior documented infections.

Walensky, White House Press Secretary on Pandemic, stated Wednesday, “And so, we absolutely recommend that all children, even those who have never had the disease, get vaccinated.”

Walensky made the comments a day later. cleared distributing dosesPfizer BioNTech vaccine available to children aged 5 to 11. The White House estimates that up to 28 millions children are currently eligible for vaccines in the U.S.

While children are more likely than adults to experience severe Covid symptoms, a smaller percentage of those who do suffer, according to pediatricians as well as public health officials, they can still be affected.

According to Tuesday’s data, there have been at most 1.9 million Covid-related cases, 8300 hospitalizations, and at least 94 deaths. The agency claims that at least 2316 children suffered from multisystem inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), a rare, but severe, Covid-related complication.

Federal scientists estimated that as many as 40%Covid has been reported in children as young as 5-11 years old.

According to the Biden administration, it was procured enough vaccine to inoculate all 28 million 5- to 11-year-olds in the U.S. and will distribute it in smaller dosing and with smaller needles to make it easier for pediatricians and pharmacists to administer to kids.

The administration last week already began moving 15 million doses from Pfizer’s freezers and facilities to distribution centers.

White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Jeff Zients said Wednesday that there would be more than 500,000 doses transported to American cities over the next 24 hour. The weekend will see packing and shipping continue, with thousands of doses reaching every territory, state, and tribe.
