Miami’s Mayor Francis Suarez has resorted to taking his next paycheck fully in , a move that positions him as the first known US politician to take such a decision.
He made it clear on Twitter that he intends to make Bitcoin his sole source of income. The pro-Bitcoin mayor has worked hard to integrate Bitcoin in his city operations.
I’m going to take my next paycheck 100% in bitcoin…problem solved! @Sarasti could you help me? https://t.co/v4YdPZ0tYc

Responded to Anthony Pompliano’s tweet asking who would be the first US politician to accept their salary in BTC, Suarez said:
I’m going to take my next paycheck 100% in bitcoin…problem solved.
In order to make the decision easier, the mayor asked Mike Sarasti, Miami’s Chief Informant. Sarasti stated that he had already provided a Strike link for the mayor to sign up with in order to send him his Bitcoin paycheck.
He also shared his experiences with Bitcoin, as a CIO.
“My experience receiving a portion of my pay last week went flawlessly,” hinting that he has already been receiving part of his own salary in BTC.
Mayor Suarez is a strong supporter and advocate of Bitcoin. Suarez has been vocal in his support for Bitcoin and plans to make Miami a Bitcoin-friendly city. The city could embrace Bitcoin to support its operations.
The region is already taking visible steps towards adopting Bitcoin, it seems. Back in February, Miami’s City Commission passed a resolution to allow municipal employees to receive their salaries in Bitcoin.
