Taiwan October exports set to rise for 16th straight month: Reuters poll -Breaking

TAIPEI (Reuters – Taiwan’s exports are likely to rise for a 16th consecutive month in October according to a Reuters poll. The increase was due to strong demand from semiconductors and electronic products as the world economy recovers.

Taiwan, which is an international hub for chip manufacturing and key supplier for Apple Inc (NASDAQ):, is Asia’s largest exporter of technology products. The trade data serves as an indicator of the global demand for these gadgets.

According to a Reuters poll, exports were up 24.4% compared with a year ago, according to a survey of 10 analysts. However, this is a slowdown from September’s 29.2% increase.

Export forecasts varied widely from a rise between 15% and 38.2% due to uncertainties about the global economy recovery and continuing supply chain disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The consumer price index (CPI), which was up 2.58% compared to September’s increase of 2.633%, is also expected to go up.

On Friday, the inflation data and Monday’s trade data will be available.
