American AirlinesThe delayed implementation of Covid-19 vaccine requirements for all staff is happening until January 4, just hours after the Biden administration pushed back the deadline for Federal Contractors to comply with the regulations.

American Airlines had previously required that its more than 100,000 employees receive the last Covid vaccination shot on Nov. 24, so they could be fully vaccinated by December 8, as per the original deadline.

Southwest AirlinesThey will most likely do the same.

Federal contractors include American, Southwest and Alaska Airlines, JetBlue Airways and JetBlue Airways. They transport U.S. mail and provide other services such as cargo, U.S. postal service, and government employees. All of these airlines said that they will comply with federal contractor rules released by the Biden administration in September. These regulations require federal contractors either to get a waiver or ensure employees receive vaccinations.

These rules are more stringent than those released by the Biden administration on Thursday.
