China’s Tencent launches three new chips

GUANGZHOU, China — TencentThree new chips were launched Wednesday by the Chinese Internet giant, which marked the first public appearance of its semiconductor progress.

This is because China continues to push for a booming chip industry. making it a strategic priorityTechnology sector in the country.

Tencent is a global leader in gaming and operator of China’s most popular messaging platform WeChat. To diversify its operations, Tencent invests in chips and cloud computing.

An artificial intelligence chip, called Zixiao is one of these semiconductors. It can handle images, video, and natural languages. This could make it useful for AI voice assistants such as those that use computers’ ability to interpret and process human-language language.

A video transcoding chip is the second. These chips are needed to convert videos in different formats.

Third is the so-called “network card” that supports cloud computing.

All of China’s tech giants are investing in semiconductors.

Chinese chip designers are not the only ones who have created their own chips. The manufacturing process and the other components supply chain still rely heavily on foreign companiesIt is also a threat to China’s domestic ambitions.

Tencent has not revealed the name of any companies involved in manufacturing silicon.

Dowson Tong said that chips are “the core part of hardware” and “the core infrastructure of industrial internet.” This was in a WeChat official post.
