WASHINGTON (Reuters] – To increase the vaccination rate and to get more people back on their feet, President Joe Biden created testing and vaccination requirements at about 84,000,000 workers in private U.S. companies.

Here are the most recent details about the White House efforts.

Who Must Get Vacinated by January 4th?

Employers who have 100 employees or more must make sure that all employees receive two doses. Pfizer (NYSE: ) Moderna (NASDAQ:), or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) vaccine by January 4th. Employees who do not have the shots need to provide proof of a negative test on a minimum weekly basis. Workplaces cannot be opened to workers who have had a COVID-19 positive test, or were diagnosed by licensed healthcare providers with COVID-19.

Who pays?

According to a top U.S. official, unvaccinated employees will be responsible for paying their own weekly test costs. All employees who are eligible for vaccines will be paid to have their shots done. If necessary, they can also take sick leave in order to treat side effects.

How about masks?

All employees who are not vaccinated must use a mask to protect their faces while at work.

What can employers do right now to make their business more profitable?

– While the testing requirement for unvaccinated workers will begin after January 4th, employers must be in compliance with all other requirements – such as providing paid-time for employees to get vaccinated and masking for unvaccinated workers – on December 5th.

Care facilities that participate in Medicare and Medicaid must have had the shots required to fully immunize Jan. These shots are available to approximately 76,000 healthcare facilities, and over 17 million workers in the health sector.

Federal Contractors: What Are the New Rules?

– Employees of federal contractors will need to have their final vaccination dose – either their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna, or single dose of Johnson & Johnson – by Jan. 4. Prior deadline for vaccinating federal contractors was Dec. 8.
