WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Senior administration officials claim that Kamala Harris, the U.S. vice president for Kamala Harris will support Libya in its efforts to hold elections next week at a Paris conference.

A senior official stated that “we want to show support for Libyan citizens as they move toward national election and as they concentrate on the importance the withdrawal of foreign force and mercenaries.”

It is anticipated that around 20 heads of state from across the region and world will attend the summit on Libya, which was organized in Paris with Germany, Italy, and United Nations for Nov. 12.

Libyan efforts to end decade of violence and chaos has been threatened by wrangling about elections scheduled for Dec. 24, which could lead to a halt to the peace process. To ensure that the vote is held, a new peace effort has created a temporary unity government.

Harris attends the Paris summit in part of a longer, five-day diplomatic mission to France.
