UberThe company reported third quarter results on Thursday after the bell rang. After posting a large loss, shares fell more than 5% after hours trading.

This is how Uber performed compared to the expectations of Refinitiv analysts.

  • Loss Per Head: $1.28 vs. 33 cents expected
  • Revenue $4.8 Billion vs. $4.4 Billion expected

Uber recorded a $2.4 billion net loss for the quarter due to the decline in its investment portfolios. Didi. It claimed that its investments in Zomato, Aurora, and Joby had helped to offset some of the loss. Uber reported a loss of $1.09 trillion in the same quarter last year.

Uber announced its adjusted EBITDA profit for the first time, surpassing its goal of achieving its end-of year target. EBITDA is earnings before interest taxes, depreciation, and amortization. After a loss of $507 million during the second quarter, EBITDA adjusted profit was $8 million.

Uber’s Eats division has not suffered from pandemic restrictions that have been eased in many countries. Covid headwinds were overcome by Uber’s delivery service, as people started placing more orders at home due to the pandemic.

This is how Uber’s biggest business segments did in the third quarter 2021.

  • Mobility (gross reservations) $9.9 billion, up 67% year over year
  • Delivery$12.8Billion, up 50% Year-over-Year

While delivery revenue continues to exceed its core ride-hailing company at $2.2 billion, it still outperforms the rest of the business. However, that gap is closing. 402 million was freight revenue. According to the company, its delivery merchants increased to over 780,000.

Because of the pandemic and its effects on supply and demand, the company was unable to meet increased pricing or respond quickly enough.

Uber shows signs of pandemic recovery here in the U.S. In the third quarter of 2018, Uber saw an increase of nearly 60% in U.S. mobility driver activity. The growth continued into October, with 10 weeks of consecutive driver growth from August.

Uber recorded 1.64 billion rides on its platform in the last quarter. This is an increase of 9% over the previous quarter and 39% annually. The number of monthly active users on the platform increased by 8% to 109million, compared with the previous quarter. In the last quarter, drivers and couriers made an average $8.6 trillion.

The company expects gross bookings to be between $25 billion-$26 billion for the fourth quarter. The company also anticipates an adjusted EBITDA between $25 million and $75 million.
