REUTERS/Nigel RoddisLONDON, (Reuters) – The number of new British cars registered in October fell by around 25% year-on, according to preliminary data. This was due to a shortage of semi-conductor chip supplies, which continues to plague the sector globally.
Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), stated that it expects full-year total car sales of 1.66 million, which is just 1.9% less than 2020 after COVID-19 locksdowns and other restrictions impacted the economy.
At 0900GMT, the SMMT will release the final numbers.
