“PlugWalkJoe” indicted for $784k cryptocurrency theft scheme -Breaking

Joseph O’Connor, known in some corners of the internet as PlugWalkJoe, was indictedAn array of charges have been brought against him in connection to the hacking of a cryptocurrency exchange that occurred May 2019. The attack saw him allegedly abscond with approximately $784,000.
O’Connor is believed to have used SIM swap attacks, a form of fraud in which 2FA phone calls are rerouted and text messages sent to a scammer to hijack the systems of three different executives from a unidentified cryptocurrency company. O’Connor may have then diverted over 7 BTC, 407 ETH, 6363 LTC and 770 BCH from wallets maintained by the corporation on behalf of their users to wallets under his own control.
