Marvel’s ‘Eternals’ tallies a $71 million opening at domestic box office

The “Eternals”, as they may also be called, could refer to the following: the lowest-rated film in the Marvel Cinematic UniverseBut that didn’t stop filmgoers from going out to see the movie.

The fourth-highest pandemic opening, $71 million of ticket sales in its home country debut, saw the film earn $71million. Disney’sMarvel currently holds the three top domestic pandemic opening weekends.

Still, the “Eternals”, haul remains one of its lowest. In 2015, “Eternals” opened to $57.2 million.

Critics said that while the film received praise for its diversity of talent, it was not enough to offset an overly complicated plot and lackluster character development.

The global record for the MCU’s new entry was $161.7 Million. This is the second highest worldwide weekend recorded by any Motion Picture Association film, just below Universals “F9” in 2021.

“Eternals” opened in key markets like the United Kingdom, France, Germany, South Korea and Australia, but has yet to garner a release date in China — one of the highest-grossing international box offices.
