LOS ANGELES, (Reuters) – Hollywood is considering new safety precautions following Monday’s fatal shooting in the Western film “Rust.” Alec Baldwin stated on Monday that he believes film and television productions should employ police officers to keep an eye on weapons.

Baldwin killed Halyna HUTCHINS, cinematographer on Oct. 21. He accidentally shot her after being told that the gun he was practicing with in New Mexico on “Rust”, was “cold” or safe to use.

Officials are investigating how a bullet from a gun given to Baldwin would end up inside. Produces and crew members are now weighing the possibility of another similar disaster. Baldwin stated that he believes productions should employ police to ensure the safety of guns being used for filming.

Baldwin wrote on Twitter: “Every movie/TV set using guns, fake or not, should have one police officer on the set, hired and trained by the production to specifically monitor weapon safety.”
